voting for moral values / respecting moral values
Ah, America has voted! At least if Michael Moore, again, is lying when he says the vote's been rigged 'de nouveau'. The key conclusion of the 2004 election we hear everywhere is that people, carrying the christian/protestant/jewish religion and voting on the basis of morals, voted republican by a landslide (90%).
It is very disturbing indeed to see so large a crowd claim to be religious and follow Jesus Christ in his footsteps while J.K. Galbraith in 1958 already called America 'the affluent society" (= de maatschappij van de overvloed). DON'T AMERICANS KNOW THAT JESUS WAS AGAINST MATERIAL WEALTH OF ANY KIND, AGAINST BEGGER-THY-NEIGHBOUR-POLICIES, AGAINST INTOLERANCE (incl. homosexuals), AGAINST WAR (especially pre-empive strikes)? Have they never heard a real Christian SHOULD (yes, religion comes with duties) turn the other cheek?
Aren't they aware of their own hypocrisy?
Are they really this simple-minded?
It looks like ever more people join the 'gesellschaft' of the dumb and stupid or the malicious and ignorant as opposed to the 'gemeinschaft' of the cooperative and prosperous.
